Economy mode of the projector lamp
By activating the economy mode, you can considerably extend the projector lamp life. The lamp’s energy consumption will decrease, the lamp will give off less heat and will therefore last longer. Also, the noise of the ventilator whose role it is to cool the lamp will diminish, and using your projector will be more enjoyable.
Maintenance of the projector filter
The air filter is an essential part of your projector and needs to be cleaned and replaced after having been used for a certain period of time. In general, a message asking you to clean the filter appears when you turn on the projector after 100 hours of use.
Before attempting to clean or replace the filter, make sure that the projector has cooled. Handling the projector right after having used it may damage it and cause burnings.
Once you have taken off the filter cover and the filter itself, you can clean both with an air duster can, gun, or simply with a soft cloth and a mild cleaning product.
The air duster can contains a pure dry and compressed gas which has been especially conceived for the maintenance of computer hardware. You can therefore also use it to clean your video projector.
A broken or dusty air filter has to be replaced. If too dirty, it may cause the projector’s internal temperature to increase, which might damage the projector.
Please do never use your projector without a filter. The dust getting inside the projector might deteriorate the projection quality.
If you use an air duster can for the cleaning of the filter, please make sure not to do so inside the projector. Scattered dust particles might cause damage to the projector in the long term. It is also important to clean the projector’s objective on a regular basis, using special cleaning products conceived for camera equipment. This contributes to a perfect image quality.

How to reduce the projector ventilation noise
Each video projector has at least 2 ventilators, one behind the lamp and the other near the power supply. The former prevents the lamp from overheating by creating a continuous air flow. The latter reduces the heat accumulating inside the video projector. Ventilation therefore extends the projector lamp life.
Most video projectors are rather noisy. Noise is being measured in dB (decibels). 32dB is considered quiet, from 34 to 37dB moderate and from 41 to 49dB noisy. The noise emanating from the ventilation system is different from one projector to the other. Brands such as: Sony, Misubishi, Panasonic or Barco have put a lot of effort into finding ways of absorbing the ventilation noise and are considered silent video projectors.
Also, by using your projector in economy mode, you can diminish the ventilation performance. This will make your projector less noisy, but will also entail decreasing lamp luminosity. Using the economy mode extends both the projector and lamp life and allows you to save up to 30% energy.
